Top Film Student Honored at Graduation Ceremony |

Alan Shelley recently received the Top Film Student Award for 2008 along with a three year Advanced Diploma in Film and Television at the annual CityVarsity, School of Media and Creative Arts, graduation ceremony.
Shelley’s love for the film industry stemmed originally from productions at his old school, Westerford where he explains modestly that he did a ‘bit’ of theatre at High School. He states that, “The interest in film came along whilst thinking of how great it would be to put the theatrical productions in motion pictures. For me enrolling for a film course was the logical option in terms of furthering my education.”

What if you had one day and one chance to change your life?
The time to make a decision that can influence your entire life has arrived, so why not let CityVarsity help you make the right decision at our Open Day on May 16 (Cape Town) and May 30 (Johannesburg). CityVarsity is the leading School of Media and Creative Arts in South Africa. Our students receive the best industry related training which is fully accredited by the Council of Higher Education (CHE). That means we are like a University, only more practical. CityVarsity offers Certificates, Diploma’s and Advanced Diploma’s in a number of exciting and interesting creative courses. The big difference between a Diploma and a Degree is you have a MASSIVE portfolio of practical work to show prospective employers when you graduate. Besides, no employer wants to read your boring thesis (yawn), they want to see what you can actually DO! This means the majority of our students get jobs when they graduate.
