Q:I would like to know more about a career in Plant breeding? A: Well firstly what is plant breeding? Plant breeding is the manipulation of plant genes to create a specific or preferred type of plant (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plant_breeding). Yes a career that Poison Ivy from DC comics would be interested in! A good example of what a plant breeder is all about can be found on BioCareers website (www.biocareers.co.za), click here for an interview that they have done with a Plant Breeder.

Q: I am doing first year of BA LAW and I don’t really want to be a lawyer, I am thinking along the lines of being an ambassador of South Africa or a diplomat. Am I in the right direction with law or should drop it totally? A: First of all, you should probably think of the reasons why you decided to study law in the beginning. Were you forced to study law by your parents, were you attracted to the potential earning power or was it what you really wanted to do? If you decided to study law because it was the career that attracted you most then maybe it would be beneficial to see through your undergraduate degree and focus on a more ‘appealing’ field at an Honours or Masters level; should the opportunity arise.
