What are the top 10 things you want to do before you kick the bucket? PPS, a specialist financial services provider to the graduate professional market, has launched a unique brand awareness campaign that revolves around its innovative, flash website www.dreamupyourbucketlist.co.za. According to Blanka Sulentic, head of Marketing at PPS, the concept behind the campaign was developed around PPS’ uniqueness. Members of PPS share in the profits of the company each year via their Surplus Rebate Accounts. In 2009 alone, PPS shared R2.6billion with its 200,000 plus members. The most powerful benefit that stands out is the chance to do more with one’s life thanks to this added benefit. “We want people to think big, dream big and look beyond their day-to-day desires. We wanted to give them an opportunity to create a 'to-do-list' for the rest of their lives - their bucket list of dreams.”

Mallin Moolman, a fourth-year University of Cape Town (UCT) student studying electrical engineering has been awarded the prestigious PPS Scholarship Award worth R40,000, after producing academic results that one of his professors describes as simply astounding. In his first year of study, Mallin scored 98% for Mathematics, 99% for Physics and 100% for Engineering. In his third year, he scored 93% for Electromagnetic Engineering. Barry Downing, Head of Electrical Engineering at UCT, says that even he, as a professor of 15 years, would struggle to accomplish such a feat. “Each year at UCT, we seem to find one or two students whose academic ability is on another level altogether. Mallin is one such student.”

Young Entrepreneurs Finalists Announced |
Entrepreneurship and innovation are vehicles for change and leadership. But in South Africa, entrepreneurship is far from reaching its full potential. In 2005, the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM), the largest and most rigorous longitudinal study of entrepreneurship in the world, released the following illuminating findings about the entrepreneurship in South Africa.
The DAD Fund and Evo Media together with their American partners therefore approached the US government to sponsor a dynamic new Youth Entrepreneurship Programme (YEP). YEP offers young entrepreneurs a chance to learn from top international entrepreneurs in the USA and launch their own businesses in South Africa. The programme follows a holistic approach that acts as a seed for spreading this training and support to other potential entrepreneurs in the country.

Introduction and background
The ongoing changes and problems in business, requires a new kind of leader: a leader that is authentic (real), has integrity (whole) and thinks innovatively (creative). Leadership is not about a specific style, or copying another leader’s behaviour, but about responsibility and stewardship. True leaders appeal to people’s hearts and minds by living according to their vision and values.
Effective leaders have balance in their lives, know who they are and live according to their values. Their leadership is extended to all areas of their lives, and they are healthier, less stressed, perform better at work and are more productive.
Research shows that people do not have to be born with specific characteristics or traits to be a leader. You also do not have to be at the top of your organization – leadership can be, and should be, learned.
